Saudis spread hate through U.S. mosques
© 2005 WorldNetDaily.com
The government of Saudi Arabia is disseminating propaganda through American mosques that teaches hatred of Jews and Christians and instructs Muslims that they are on a mission behind enemy lines in a land of unbelievers, according to a year-long study by a Washington human-rights group.
The 89-page report by Freedom House's Center for Religious Freedom, "Saudi Publications on Hate Ideology Fill American Mosques," concludes the Saudi government propaganda examined reflects a "totalitarian ideology of hatred that can incite to violence."
The report says the fact it is "being mainstreamed within our borders through the efforts of a foreign government, namely Saudi Arabia, demands our urgent attention."
The report asserts: "Not only does the government of Saudi Arabia not have a right – under the First Amendment or any other legal document – to spread hate ideology within U.S. borders, it is committing a human-rights violation by doing so."
The Center for Religious Freedom says Saudi Arabia's "extremist Wahhabi ideology" is followed by a distinct minority of Sunni Muslims worldwide, "as is evident by the millions of Muslims who have chosen to make America their home and are upstanding, law-abiding citizens and neighbors."
Former CIA chief James Woolsey, chairman of the board of Freedom House, writes in the forward that such publications that "advocate an ideology of hatred have no place in a nation founded on religious freedom and toleration."
Among the key findings of the report:
Various Saudi government publications gathered for the study, most of which are in Arabic, assert it is a religious obligation for Muslims to hate Christians and Jews and warn against imitating, befriending, or helping them in any way or taking part in their festivities and celebrations;
The documents promote contempt for the United States because it is ruled by legislated civil law rather than by totalitarian Wahhabi-style Islamic law. They condemn democracy as un-Islamic;
The documents stress that when Muslims are in the lands of the unbelievers, they must behave as if on a mission behind enemy lines. Either they are there to acquire new knowledge and make money to be later employed in the jihad against the infidels, or they are there to proselytize the infidels until at least some convert to Islam.
Any other reason for lingering among the unbelievers in their lands is illegitimate, and unless a Muslim leaves as quickly as possible, he or she is not a true Muslim and so too must be condemned. For example, a document in the collection for the "Immigrant Muslim" bears the words "Greetings from the Cultural Attache in Washington, D.C." of the Embassy of Saudi Arabia, and is published by the government of Saudi Arabia.
In an authoritative religious voice, it gives detailed instructions on how to "hate" the Christian and Jew: Never greet them first. Never congratulate the infidel on his holiday. Never imitate the infidel. Do not become a naturalized citizen of the United States. Do not wear a graduation gown because this imitates the infidel;
For a Muslim who fails to uphold the Saudi Wahhabi sect's sexual mores [i.e. through homosexual activity or heterosexual activity outside of marriage], the edicts published by the Saudi government's Ministry of Islamic Affairs and found in American mosques advise "it would be lawful for Muslims to spill his blood and to take his money";
Regarding those who convert out of Islam, the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs explicitly asserts, they "should be killed";
Saudi textbooks and other publications in the collection, propagate a Nazi-like hatred for Jews, treat the forged Protocols of the Elders of Zion as historical fact, and avow that the Muslim's duty is to eliminate the state of Israel;
Regarding women, the Saudi publications instruct that they should be veiled, segregated from men and barred from certain employment and roles;
"Moderate" muslims in america hate us too...

Militant Imams Under Scrutiny Across Europe
NYTIMES ^ 01/25/05 DON VAN NATTA Jr. and LOWELL BERGMAN
ONDON, Jan. 24 - In nightly sermons broadcast on the Internet, Sheik Omar Bakri Muhammad, a 46-year-old Syrian-born cleric, has urged young Muslim men all over the world to support the Iraq insurgency on the front line of "the global jihad," investigators say.
He struck a similarly defiant tone this month at a rally attended by 500 people at a central London meeting hall, where a giant screen behind him showed images of the World Trade Center falling. "Allah akbar!" - "God is great" - some audience members shouted at the images.
After eavesdropping for months on his nightly praise of the Sept. 11 hijackers and of suicide bombings, Scotland Yard said last week that it was investigating Sheik Omar, the leader of Al Muhajiroun, Britain's largest Muslim group, and officials are exploring whether they can deport him. "We're fed up with him," said a senior British official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. "He needs to be stopped, or he needs to go."
The more aggressive approach toward Sheik Omar is part of an increasing effort to monitor and restrict militant imams in Britain and across Europe. Authorities have stepped up surveillance of militant mosques in several countries, including Germany and France. French officials deported an imam this month after officials said he was inspiring men to join the jihad.
One major concern, officials say, is that more heated religious rhetoric is encouraging young men to leave home to fight in Iraq.
"I believe Muslims are obliged to support their Muslim brothers abroad - verbally, financially, politically," he told The Associated Press. "I never said, 'Go abroad.' But if people want to go abroad, (as in let's kill some infidels) it's a very good thing to do. But we never recruit people to go abroad."
News of the central London rally, which was first reported by United Press International, and portions of Sheik Omar's nightly Internet sermons, have alarmed senior British officials. In one sermon last week, Sheik Omar called Al Qaeda "the victorious group" that he said Muslims were "obliged" to join.
It is not just imams who have become outspoken in exhorting young men to become jihadists. At the rally sponsored by Sheik Omar, a young speaker named Abu Yahya Abderahman said: "We are at war. It's time for brothers, sisters and children to prepare. Prepare as much as you can, whether they are sticks or stones or bombs. Prepare as much as you can to defeat them, to terrorize them."
Now leading the mosque is another militant Muslim, Abu Abdullah, who said in an interview, "People see us as extremists because we don't compromise the religion of Allah."

Death threats for Manji
Irshad Manji, courageous muslim author, is still getting death threats for expressing her views that islam needs to be reformed. From her website:
Posted January 17, 2005
“On your site, I have seen that you plan to publish the book in Pakistan. May I ask where I can buy a copy?” - Sarah
Irshad replies: The Trouble with Islam is being released in Pakistan as you read this. I'm told it's available in the following stores: CLASSIC in Lahore, MR. BOOKS in Islamabad, SAEED BOOK BANK in Islamabad and Peshawar, and WELCOME BOOK PORT in Karachi.
Because of the book's controversial message, though, it's hard to know if these stores will continue carrying it. It's being reported to me that quiet pressures and outright protests are forcing some smaller vendors to return the book.
And I have a sneaking suspicion they will. Which is why I’m covering all bases by posting the Urdu edition on this website. Like the Arabic edition, it can be downloaded free-of-charge.
Sadly, even the death threats have already begun. Check out the next email, sent to my Urdu translator:
“Its disturbing for us to know that you have translated irshad manji book into urdu. when we heard this news before at manji website, we were looking for translator and publisher in pakistan. Now we got this news on your website newislam.org that its you basterd who translated this book.... stop it basterd. we are not Taliban people but you and irshad are on our killing list. REMEMBER we are watching... we will keep watching and some day we will get you. LAST THING ask pakistani publisher to take back book from the market. we are contacting ulma [clergy] and government to stop qabli qatal masanfa [woman writer who is subject to death].” - Progressive Shia Muslim
Irshad replies (not to the would-be killer, but to the readers): The police have found that this threat originated in Toronto. Which speaks to the next point...
“Please be very careful about your personal security, Irshad. A few years ago, when I was a Commissioner with the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada, I interviewed a member of the Jamaat e Islami from Pakistan, who told me he was in agreement with the doctrine of his party that all atheists (meaning all apostates and lay people) should be tried and executed. I have no doubts that people like him are in Canada. (There is evidence about the presence in Canada of members of the former al-Badr militias of the Jamaat, which murdered hundreds of intellectuals in Dacca in 1971.)
”Irshad, I read your article ‘Challenging Islam is Risky,’ and it made me confused. Why did you make it look like Theo van Gogh was killed JUST because he criticized Islam? Why did you ignore the fact this ‘criticism’ was extremely offensive, even to some non-Muslims, who found his ‘dirty’ movie to be a complete disregard of Muslim feelings. Or was the killing of van Gogh a good chance to use it for your own cause, no matter how much facts you slay?” -
anonymous
Irshad replies: Van Gogh’s verbal assaults left many Muslims feeling humiliated. Agreed. But van Gogh said equally nasty things about Jews and Christians — and they refrained from slitting his throat for it. Would you argue that they should have killed him? In that case, do Muslim women who are routinely humiliated by Muslim men have the right to murder those men? If not, why the double-standard?
You’re right about something else, though: The murder of van Gogh presented the opportunity to promote “my” cause -- freedom of conscience. I make no apologies for seizing that opportunity. You see, I have enough faith to believe that Islam is capable of respecting freedom of conscience. I’m sorry you don’t. Perhaps you should consult your local imam about why you lack faith in Islam’s humanitarian potential. I’ll pray for you, brother.

In islamic countries, this seems to be the general consensus - that we in civilization should be killed or subjugated. Religion of peace? Hardly...

ISLAM AND DEMOCRACY: THE IMPOSSIBLE UNION
ISLAM AND DEMOCRACY: THE IMPOSSIBLE UNION
by Amir Taheri
The Sunday TimesMay 23, 2004
Iranian Muslim Amir Taheri says his faith cannot embrace western liberalism because our notions of equality are antithetical to the basis of Islam.
The idea of equality is unacceptable to Islam. For the non-believer cannot be the equal of the believer. Even among the believers only those who subscribe to the three Abrahamic religions: Judaism,Christianity and Islam, known as the "people of the book" (Ahl el-Kitab), are regarded as fully human.
Democracy means the rule of the demos, the common people, or what is now known as popular or national sovereignty. In Islam, however, power belongs only to God: al-hukm l'illah. The man who exercises that power on Earth is known as Khalifat al-Allah, the regent of God. Even then the Khalifah, or Caliph, cannot act as legislator. The law has alreadybeen spelt out and fixed forever by God.
To say that Islam is incompatible with democracy should not be seen as a disparagement of Islam. On the contrary, many Muslims would see it as acompliment because they believe that their idea of rule by God is superior to that of rule by men, which is democracy.
The great Persian poet Rumi pleads thus:
Oh, God, do not leave our affairs to us For, if You do, woe is us.
Last year Yussuf al-Ayyeri, one of the leading theoreticians of today's Islamist movement, published a book in which he warned that the real danger to Islam did not come from American tanks and helicopter gunships in Iraq but from the idea of democracy and the government of the people.

This is why I have remained anonymous
Many people have asked me why I don't use my real name in the battle against evil - here's why...
January 16, 2005 — The father of a murdered New Jersey family was threatened for making anti-Muslim remarks online — and the gruesome quadruple slaying may have been the hateful retaliation, sources told The Post yesterday.
Hossam Armanious, 47, who along with his wife and two daughters was found stabbed to death in his Jersey City home early Friday, would regularly debate religion in a Middle Eastern chat room, one source said.
Armanious, an Egyptian Christian, was well known for expressing his Coptic beliefs and engaging in fiery back-and-forth with Muslims on the Web site paltalk.com.
He “had the reputation for being one of the most outspoken Egyptian Christians,” said the source, who had close ties to the family.
The source, who had knowledge of the investigation, refused to specify the anti-Muslim statement. But he said cops told him they were looking into the exchanges as a possible motive.
The married father of two had recently been threatened by Muslim members of the Web site, said a fellow Copt and store clerk who uses the chat room.
“You’d better stop this bull—— or we are going to track you down like a chicken and kill you,” was the threat, said the clerk, who was online at the time and saw the exchange.
But Armanious refused to back down, according to two sources who use the Web site. ...
Armanious’ fervor apparently rubbed off on his daughter, Sylvia — who would have turned 16 yesterday. “She was very religious and very opinionated,” said Jessica Cimino, 15, a fellow sophomore at Dickenson HS.
A family member who viewed photos of the bloodbath said Sylvia seemed to have taken the most savage punishment. “When we saw the pictures, you could tell that they were hurt really, really bad in the face; especially Sylvia,” said Milad Garas, the high-school sophomore’s great-uncle.
The heartless killer not only slit Sylvia’s throat, but also sliced a huge gash in her chest and stabbed her in the wrist, where she had a tattoo of a Coptic cross.
Also found murdered were the wife, Amal Garas, and the parents’ other daughter, Monica.

Colin, Don't Get Your Hopes Up
By Robert Spencer
FrontPageMagazine.com
January 11, 2005
Colin Powell hopes that the aid that the United States is giving to countries hit by the tsunami will turn the tide of anti-American sentiment in the Muslim world. Speaking from Banda Aceh, Indonesia on NBC’s Nightly News, he said that he thought American aid to Indonesia would “show to the Muslim world the nature of our society. But we’ve done a lot for the Muslim world. I mean, we rescued the Muslim people from the tyranny of the Taliban and al-Qaida in Afghanistan. We rescued them from the tyranny of Saddam Hussein. We rescued Muslims in Kosovo some years ago.”
Powell added: “So I think if people will look at our actions and look at the subsequent results of those actions, and we see a democracy in Afghanistan and hopefully one in Iraq as well, people will judge us by what we end up accomplishing, and the anti-American feeling that we have seen in various parts of the world over the past year and a half will start to dissipate.”
Unfortunately, it was more than a year and a half ago that the South African Mufti Ebrahim Desai, the imam of an “Ask the Imam” feature at a Muslim question and answer site, made a statement that, had Powell known of it, might have diminished his confidence in the effect of the aid.
The questioner asked (spelling and grammar as in the original): “The west is often criticised by Muslims for many reasons, such as allowing women go to work. But shouldnt the west also recieve praise because its always them who intervene when muslims r being tortured, they stopped Milosovic kiling muslims and sent their own troops to the country, they r usually the first to send aid when theres a flood, they r also intervening in Isreal and condeming them killing Muslims, so should we appreciate their efforts or not?”
Desai’s answer was brief: “In simple the Kuffaar [unbelievers] can never be trusted for any possible good they do. They have their own interest at heart.”
One man’s opinion? Sure. But it is an opinion with deep roots in Islamic tradition, and it would therefore be naïve to dismiss it as simply Desai’s own mean-spiritedness. The Qur’an contains a warning against those who turn “in friendship to the Unbelievers….If only they had believed in Allah, in the Prophet, and in what hath been revealed to him, never would they have taken them for friends and protectors, but most of them are rebellious wrong-doers” (5:80-81). It also tells Muslims that “never will the Jews or the Christians be satisfied with thee unless thou follow their form of religion” (2:120).
These are words that Powell should consider carefully — because Muslims in the tsunami-stricken areas and elsewhere are doing so. They lead them to regard the relief efforts not as a sign of American goodwill, but as part of a larger plan to subvert Islam. Statements by Muslim leaders blaming the disaster on the area Muslims’ non-observance of Islam should likewise cause ears to perk up at the State Department, because they lead to the same conclusions. “God is angry with Aceh people, because most of them do not do what is written in the Qur’an and the Hadith,” said the Indonesian imam Cut Bukhaini. “I hope this will lead all Muslims in Aceh to do what is in the Qur’an and its teachings. If we do so, God will be merciful and compassionate.”
In my book Islam Unveiled, I discuss a recurring phenomenon of Islamic history: when disaster of any kind strikes, it is all too frequently interpreted as having been caused by a failure on the part of the people to be Islamic enough. So the result is a renewed fervor, and new miseries for non-Muslims inside and often also outside the Islamic state in question. It is beginning to look as if the tsunami may be another occasion of this. There is nothing wrong with focusing and reforming one’s actions in the face of the reality of death; the potential problem here is that when the Muslims “wake up,” as they are being called to do now in Indonesia, they will direct their attentions not only to matters of individual piety, but to that other Muslim obligation, jihad.
After Mt. Tambora erupted in 1815, killing 100,000, a Christian Science Monitor report notes that “imams on the northwest coast of Java preached that the eruption was a sign of Allah’s displeasure at infidel rule, and urged a violent jihad, according to Sartono Kartodirdjo, am Indonesian historian.”
Likewise, after the eruption of Mt. Krakatoa in 1883, according to historian Simon Winchester, “the Dutch made this superhuman effort to bring relief to the area because they were aware of the significance of the event and that the Muslim clerics were quickly making political capital from the event.” But the relief changed no hearts, and Muslims mounted a violent assassination campaign against Dutch officials.
Does all this mean that the U.S. should not aid the tsunami victims? Of course we should aid them. But if Powell, or the State Department in general, expects that we will win hearts and minds by doing so, he is manifesting the same myopia about jihad and Islam that led State to underestimate and dismiss the Ayatollah Khomeini, to treat jihad terrorism as a matter for criminal law enforcement, and to make scores of other blunders that could have been avoided if anyone had been willing to throw off their politically correct blinders long enough to face the realities of the situation. U.S. officials should be prepared for the very real possibility that the aid, paradoxically enough, will only increase resentment and hatred of America — and not allow themselves to be blindsided.

From Palestinian Media Watch, with thanks to Anthony:
Sheik Ibrahim Madiras Friday sermon, PA TV Jan. 7, 2005:
"The Muslim remembers, how the Jews corrupted the land... Oh Muslims! The Jews are Jews. Their character and custom are the corruption and destruction of this land. We keep warning you: the Jews are a cancer that spreads inside the body of the Islamic and Arab nation.... They invest in the East Asian countries, which were destroyed [by the Tsunami] because of the Jewish and American corruption and destruction."
Sheik Ibrahim Madiras Friday sermon, PA TV Dec. 31, 2004:
“[Sharon said] ‘No to the return to the 67 borders’. I will not add my voice to Sharon’s voice, but raise it above his voice and tell him: No to the return to the 67 borders. We are interested in returning to our genuine borders. We want to return to the 1948 [pre-Israel] borders... We want to return to these borders, and we will yet return to them, by Allah, even if it will take time.
We are interested in returning to the 1936 borders, to the revolution... and we are interested in returning to 1929 borders... [a time when] a group of our grandfather and fathers became Martyrs for Allah in the Al-Buraq revolution, as they were defending the Al-Aqsa mosque from the Hagana gangs, Allah curse them and curse those who supported them. We want to return to 1919 borders... [We have a claim] which we can't forget and will never forgive forever... [against] Britain and all governments who assisted that state [Israel] to be established on this land, which is a false state on a true land...
America today, America is the sponsor of terror on this land. America, who pretends for freedom and pretends for democracy, is the sponsor of terror on the face of this land. America has reached her peak, we admit in it, America has reached a peak but, by Allah’s will, is on the way to the abyss. America, led by its president now, [who is] leading it to the abyss, to destruction, to death, by Allah’s will. America, for whom Bush dug a grave the day he invaded Afghanistan, and prepared the grave for burial the day he invaded Iraq, by Allah, America will be buried the day the American embassy will be moved to Jerusalem, and it will be the last nail in her coffin.”

Saudi Professor Sheik Fawzan Fawzan: Allah Punishes for Homosexualityand Fornication at Christmas
The following are excerpts from an interview with sheik FawzanAl-Fawzan, a professor at the Al-Imam University
Al-Fawzan: "These great tragedies and collective punishments that are wiping out villages, towns, cities, and even entire countries, are Allah's punishments of the people of these countries, even if they are Muslims.
Some of our forefathers said that if there is usury and fornication in a certain village, Allah permits its destruction.(more proof that allh is an idiot) We know that at these resorts, which unfortunately exist in Islamic and other countries in South Asia, and especially at Christmas, fornication and sexualperversion of all kinds are rampant.
The fact that it happened at this particular time is a sign from Allah. It happened at Christmas, when fornicators and corrupt people from all over the world come to commit fornication and sexual perversion.
That's when this tragedy took place,striking them all and destroyed everything. It turned the land intowasteland, where only the cries of the ravens are heard. I say this is agreat sign and punishment on which Muslims should reflect.
All that's left for us to do is to ask for forgiveness We must atone for our sins, and for the acts of the stupid people among us and improve our condition. We must fight fornication, homosexuality, usury, fight the corruption on the face of the earth, and the disregard of the lives of protected people."
Another in a long line of stupid things muslim leaders have said about the tsunami...

Mystery of the almighty

From worlds away — maybe another planet — "explanations" for the tsunami catastrophe begin. On Palestinian Authority TV, according to MEMRI, Sheik Ibrahim Mudeiris asked Allah in a Friday sermon to have mercy on "all the Muslims who died" in the tsunami. Which means everyone else is on his own. Next, the sheik railed against the disaster's cause, which was neither earth, skies nor anything divine in between. It seems it all had to do with "the oppression and corruption caused by America and the Jews" — naturally.
General corruption in Bangkok worked its way into the homily as well, but mainly as the sordid site of "Zionist and American investments." The question for his flock was: "Do you want the sea to lower its waves in the face of this corruption that it sees with its own eyes? No," he replied, "the zero hour has come." Too bad his keepers haven't.
Saudi cleric Muhammad Al-Munajjid's take, as broadcast on state-controlled Saudi television (also reported by MEMRI), was somewhat more religious. Or rather more anti-religious. Make that anti-Christian. "The problem is that the [Christian] holidays are accompanied by forbidden things: by immorality, abomination, adultery, alcohol, drunken dancing, and ... and revelry," he said, displaying a less-than-Dickensian expansiveness of spirit. "At the height of immorality, Allah took vengeance on these criminals ...(good to remember that muslims think I am a"criminal" simply because I'm not a muslim) Allah struck them with an earthquake. He finished off the Richter Scale," he added. "All nine levels gone."
No mention of the tens of thousands of non-Christians "gone" alongside said "criminals" — and, of course, no mention of the vast amounts of "criminal" (and even, yegods, Jewish) aid pouring into the region, most expeditiously via the United States military, in amounts that dwarf the contributions of the Muslim world.
Then there's the Website Jihad Unspun. In a feat of contorted thinking not even The New York Times editorial page would attempt, it connects the killer from the sea to Thailand's support for U.S. foreign policy — that is, for "the Christian Crusaders" at "the altar of capitalism." No word on why Allah kept other U.S. allies tsunami-free, not to mention Washington, D.C. and Tel Aviv.
Still, it's not all about blaming the Great Satan. In Indonesia, The Washington Post reports Muslim imams are blaming themselves — or, rather, their congregations. They have explained the colossal devastation as a warning from Allah against people's laxity in observing sharia law. "God is angry with Aceh people, because most of them do not do what is written in the Koran and the Hadith [the collected sayings and actions of the prophet Mohammed]," one cleric told the newspaper.
Even allowing for the tender ministrations of clerics to their flocks, none of the above explanations leave an opening for a scientific explanation of December's disaster — not even Sheik Al-Munajjid's somewhat hilarious invocation of the Richter Scale. This would seem to be in keeping with Islamic tradition. In a fascinating book called "For the Glory of God," comparative religion professor Rodney Stark argues why science developed in the Christian West, not the Muslim East. I think his theory offers an important insight into the cultural attitudes on display in the tsunami's wake.
Historically, according to Mr. Stark, it came down to completely different visions of an Almighty. "Allah is not presented as a lawful creator but has been conceived of as an extremely active God who intrudes on the world as he deems it appropriate," Mr. Stark writes. As a result, human efforts to understand natural law have always been considered nothing short of blasphemous because "they denied Allah's freedom to act."
He continues: "Islam did not fully embrace the notion that the universe ran on fundamental principles laid down by God at the Creation, but assumed that the world was sustained by his will on a continuing basis." By direct contrast, Mr. Stark writes, Christianity did indeed fully embrace the notion that the universe ran on fundamental principles laid down by God at the Creation. "Christianity depicted God as a rational, dependable and omnipotent being and the universe as his personal creation, thus having a rational, lawful stable structure awaiting human comprehension."
The intellectually questing European scientists of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, Mr. Stark writes, saw themselves "as in pursuit of the secrets of Creation." Most of these secrets remain — including many secrets of the tsunami. To this day, our worlds — the cultures of the West and East — regard them in a completely different light. This is something elemental to consider. For just as Islam hides its face from the facts of modernity, we must not hide our face from the facts of Islam.

Philippines arrests jihadists over plot to kill catholics
Once again, muslims seek to kill infidels simply because we're not muslims. Who can doubt that this "religion" is not an appalling example of humanity...
From AFP, "Philippines arrests militants over plot to bomb Catholic procession,"
MANILA : Philippines police arrested 16 Islamic militants planning to carry out suicide bombings on a Roman Catholic procession in the capital this weekend.
The suspects, including three women, were detained after police raided a Muslim library in downtown Manila.
Most appeared to be Filipino, with two of the suspects denying being part of a terrorist plot.
"The scenario is, these would be the suicide bombers in the Feast of the Black Nazarene," said Senior Superintendent Elmer Jamias, referring to an annual Catholic procession in downtown Manila on Sunday.
"They would rig their bodies with bombs, join the procession, and blow themselves up. God made sure this would not happen," Jamias told reporters Friday.
"We seized three improvised explosive devices, a caliber .-45 and a caliber .38 guns," said Chief Superintendent Pedro Bulaong, Manila's police chief. Journalists on the scene said grenades were also found.
Tens of thousands of Catholic devotees, barefoot and wearing maroon tunics, take part in the annual January 9 procession in which an ebony icon of Jesus is taken from Manila's Quiapo church and paraded around the district.

Muslims claim their "god" caused the tsunami...
...and that all of the help offered by the west is "little more than hypocrital lip service".
"On Sunday the 26th December at 8am local time, deep below the Indian Ocean, Allah (swt) -by His divine decree -ordered the seabed to violently shake. And by His (swt) command the shaking of the earth set in motion mighty waves to roar across the sea at speeds of up to 500kmph and heights of 10s of metres until the surging tides slammed into coastal towns and cities across the continent. The waves hit India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Siri Lanka, Thailand, Burma and several countries on the East coast of Africa causing a colossus of destruction and demolition."
Seems alla was pissed at somebody, yet punished mostly muslims.
"Therefore when Western governments rush to help disaster stricken countries – it is little more than hypocrital lip service – as the cause for the permanaent humanitarian disaster in the thrid world is the West itself.Only a complete upheaval of the global capitalist system and independence from the West will lead the third world to an alleviation from their continual situation of poverty and suffering."
So, allah caused the tsunami, but it is civilization that is at fault. The Religion of Peace™ strikes again..
